On Friday, 08 April 2022, the Finance & Administration Business unit, under the Procurement Division hosted an information session with the BEE and SME Suppliers.

The session aimed to share information about the company’s bidding procedures as well as the tender application process. Welcoming the stakeholders at the event on behalf of the CEO, was Erongo RED’s Corporate Communication and Marketing Specialist, Mr. Benjamin Nangombe.

“The purpose of the event is to strengthen our existing relationship and also forge new relations with those joining us today for the first time. During the last two years, we have worked hard to review our procurement strategy to make it focus more on growing local economies. Thus, we have created opportunities such as restricted bidding for SME and BEE enterprises to do business with us. By so doing, we strive to empower local businesses to flourish and expand” Nangombe said.

Back in 2019, Erongo RED introduced an e-procurement system that serves as the central point for quotation requests and submissions. It was through this system that the company identified the need to cater to the Black Economic Empowerment and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as their level of participation was low. In 2021, Erongo RED started to reserve activities that are reviewed annually for the shortlisted SME and BEE Enterprises. All that is required of these Enterprises is to participate in the application process which is advertised during the last quarter of the company’s financial year in the various newspapers as well as the company’s website.
