On Friday, 13 January 2017, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Erongo RED, Tobias Nambala announced the appointment of the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Fessor Mbango. The appointment came after Robert Kahimise accepted the offer to join City of Windhoek as the Chief Executive Officer.
“In his new role as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Erongo RED, Mr Mbango will be responsible for ensuring shareholder value by giving direction, co-ordination of key strategic decisions. Such direction will include corporate governance, risk and performance management. He will also be responsible for ensuring that Erongo RED’s activities support economic development and create investors’ confidence not only for Erongo RED but for the region as well. Other tasks will include the implementation of the strategic objectives of the company as well as fostering stakeholder relations and compliance with relevant legislation,” Nambala said.
Mbango has been with Erongo RED since 2012 and has held several prominent roles within the company including Technical Manager and Executive Manager (His current position). Before joining Erongo RED, he was with EMCON Consulting Group where he served in various management positions.
In addition, Mbango also holds a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cape Peninsula University of Technology. “I am confident that his academic, results-oriented approach and ability to think strategically will play a pivotal role in extending our track record as the leader in the industry,” Nambala said.
Nambala said that Kahimise has laid a sound foundation for the further development of Erongo RED. This includes sound financials and a technical position. “I have full confidence in that the new Acting Chief Executive Officer is competent enough to take Erongo RED and to lead it during this transition period,” He said.
