Prepaid Electricity
Your electricity dispenser, supplied by Conlog, is the latest in metering technology. It allows you to:
- Budget for your electricity usage.
- Decide when you want to purchase more electricity.
- Decide how much electricity you want to purchase.
Before you can use electricity, you must purchase electricity credit from your nearest electricity sales point. Take your dispenser’s ID card and money to your nearest electricity sales point and purchase an electricity credit token. If you do not have your ID card, you will have to know your electricity dispenser serial number before you can purchase a token. The electricity token will look similar to this.
Important:
- The token can only be used for your electricity dispenser.
- The token can only be used once.
- A token expiry date does exist. It is therefore recommended that tokens are used within 3 months of being paid.
Key the 20 digit number from the token into your electricity dispenser. As you key in the numbers, they will be shown on the display. This allows you to confirm that the numbers you key in are the same as those on the token. If you make a mistake, use the # key to clear one number at a time until your mistake is cleared.
After you have entered the 20 digit number, the dispenser will check your number. If the number is correct, the TICK ICON will flash and the amount of credit you have purchased will appear on the display. After a few seconds the total remaining credit will be displayed. You will now be able to use electricity.
When you switch your lights or any appliance on, the red light will begin to flash. The more appliances you switch on, the faster the light will flash. Use this indicator as a reminder to switch off appliances that are not in use.
When your credit level starts running low (below 25 kWh), the KEYPAD ICON on the display will start flashing. This is a warning that you must purchase another token. If your electricity dispenser runs out of credit, the disconnection device will trip and disconnect your electricity supply. To reconnect your electricity supply, you must purchase a electricity token and key the 20-digit number from the token into your electricity dispenser.

If the Electricity dispenser trips and there is still credit remaining, you have overloaded the dispenser by using too many appliances at once. Turn off all appliances and the dispenser should reconnect automatically. For circuit breaker variants, the red lever should be switched in the up position.
If the display shows a negative credit, contact your nearest Erongo RED office.
If the CLOCK ICON appears on the display you must wait for the symbol to disappear before proceeding.
1. You have entered your number incorrectly, or the number is not valid for your electricity dispenser. The X ICON will appear and a flashing EEEEEEEE message will be displayed, indicating an error. After a few seconds it will revert to the normal credit display. Ensure that the serial number on the token matches that of your dispenser.
2. You have tried to enter the same number again. The X ICON will appear and a flashing dddddddd message will be displayed, indicating a duplicate number entry. After a few seconds it will revert to the normal credit display. The token should be discarded.
3. Your dispenser’s credit level is too high and will not accept any more credit. The X ICON will appear and a flashing FFFFFFFF message will be displayed, indicating the dispenser if full. After a few seconds it will revert to the normal credit display. Keep your token and re-enter the number when the credit level drops.
4. The number you have entered is from an expired token. The X ICON will appear and a flashing 00000000 message will be displayed, indicating an old number was entered. After a few seconds it will revert to the normal credit display. This token can no longer be used. (Ensure that you use your token within 3 months of purchase).
