Walvis Bay, Erongo Region, 27 April 2017 – Erongo RED wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Fessor Mbango as the new CEO. He will assume responsibilities with immediate effect and will succeed Mr. Robert Kahimise who stepped down in January 2017 to join City of Windhoek as CEO.

In his new role as the Chief Executive Officer of Erongo RED, Mr Mbango will be responsible for ensuring shareholder value by giving direction, co-ordination of key strategic decisions. Such direction will include corporate governance, risk and performance management. He will also be responsible for ensuring that Erongo RED’s activities support economic development and create investors’ confidence not only for Erongo RED but for the region as well. Other tasks will include the implementation of the strategic objectives of the company as well as fostering stakeholder relations and compliance with relevant legislation.

In his acceptance statement, the new CEO, Mr. Mbango said that he is well aware of the challenges Erongo RED is facing today, but together we will strive to deliver on the challenges without compromising Erongo RED’s effectiveness and ability to execute and deliver as per our mandate. “We are going to bring in new innovative ways of doing business and serving our customers with the drive to bring electricity to all. This will be one of the key strategic drives in support of the Harambee Prosperity Plan adopted by our President,” said Mbango.

Mr. Mbango has been with Erongo RED since 2012 and has held several prominent roles within the company including Technical Manager and Executive Manager (His current position). Before joining Erongo RED, he was with EMCON Consulting Group where he served in management position.

Mr. Mbango holds a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cape Peninsula University of Technology and further completed an Executive Development Program with the University of Stellenbosch.
